I love staying local, especially in West Sussex, it’s a beautiful part of the south, wedding photography at Ghyll Manor is quite unique. It’s a really beautifully set location with an old manor house and extensive grounds leading down to a gorgeous lake with lilly pads.
Recent years of ever increasing popularity lead to the construction of the newer part of this venue which not only gives a great party but also accomodates guests over night.
Yesterday was the amazing wedding of Claire and Dean. I’ve known them both for many years and grew up in the same area, went to the same schools and occasionally ‘knocked about’ in similar cirlces of friends, which meant I knew a fair number of the guests which instantly helps when capturing the natural essence of the day. I tend to blend in as best I can with the guests to be as unobtrusive as possible, producing some unstaged moments that the couple can treasure.
It was a warm close weather type of day, which can be uncomfortable sometimes in suits, I felt for the guys in the 3 peices but it didn’t distract from the day. Everyone was easy going and up for a laugh.
I arrived to a very calm and collected bride, her preps took place in the Ghyll Cottage which is a self contained accomodatuion for brides. With it’s own privatre gardens it lent itself well to photography. It’s obviously an old cottage and with low ceilings and little lighting gave it’s challenges. The brides maids were enjoying the make up and hair dressing. Procecco was flowing and everyone was enjoying themselves.
The dress went on and everyone was ready.
I nipped out to grab a few shots of the groom as he rolled up in a Lamborghini Gallardo, bright yellow and looked amazing set in front of the old contrasting body of the manor house.
Dean was obviously very excited! I think I was too, (I’m a particular fan of Lamborghini, I had the pleasure to photograph an Italian Wedding a few years back, and whilst in Italy I travelled to the Lamborghini Factory. Sorry rambling a little).
The guests were sat and the ceremony that was held outside went without hitch.
Group shoots went on forever, which can sometimes be a pain as it reduces the time for me to capture ‘natural’ events and moments. But I got my skates on and flew around capturing everyone enjoying themselves.
The breakfast room looked amazing (as you’ll see), with the chair covers done by ‘Special Creations by Jane’, I’ve worked with her before, she’s amazing.

The speaches were great, the best men (2 of them) were hilarious! Well done boys!
The night went with great energy, perhaps this was something to do with the singing waiters? They too were fully of energy and gave a great twist to the day.
There was music and dance floor supplied by KG Entertainments, again, worked with them before, they are very professional and the dance floor was amazing.

I’d like to give a speacial mention to the Toast Master on the day, he was such a lovely chap, and very keen to have a chat and help out everyone at ease. From Liverpool he comes with a great sense of humor and really lightens the mood. So here’s to Noel Thompsom!

The couple also had a videographer, she did very well and is offering her services at a discount for a limited time, she’s gathering a portfolio of work with which she’s sure to domiate. Travelled from Newcastle and was extremely professional at all times. I’d strongly recommend Abigail for her services.
