I love the fact that local weddings are always that extra magical, this was a Surrey wedding at Westmead Events, I’d never photographed this venue before, it’s right on my doorstep but still never had the opportunity to visit.
Today was a special day, an old school friend was tying the knot, and I had the privilege to be the offical photographer.
However, nothing is always ‘plain sailing’… the weather, I’ll touch on this later but we certainly had a bumpy ride today!
We started at Sian’s parents where all was calm with the bridal preps. The dress was hung and make up was being applied. The sun was shinning so I bagged some shots in the garden of the dress, the flowers and wedding jewellery.
After a few family shots the car arrived and I dashed off to see the groom, Peter, at St Bart’s in Horley. A grand old church and possibly the most well known in town.
Peter was nervous, that’s quite normal. I think any groom that isn’t, should be 🙂 Rob the best man did his best to keep things together whilst Lee flew around handing out orders of service.
The guests sat down and things got underway.
Toward the end of the service the weather turned, you could hear the wind blowing, rain fell and thunder clapped. As the service finished it was a dash to the car and zoom, we flew to Westmead.
Suddenly the clouds parted, the sun came out again, although the ground was sodden, the venue staff did amazing things to dry the place out. Everyone arrived and things were great, with drinks flowing and guests mingling having a ball.
We took some beautiful shots of the couple enjoying each others company and a few formal groups. The venue has some amazing grounds with long reaching meadows, a grand pond and giant willow tress.
Eventually my time was up and I left the gang with the kids spinning on the dance floor in preperation to what I’m sure was an amazing party!
It was great seeing faces that I’d not seen since school, along with closer friends that I still keep in touch with.
Thanks Sian and Peter, ‘Mr & Mrs Forrest’, I wish you all the best for the future and thanks again for using my services, it really was a pleasure!
Here is a link to the venue, it really is something unique.
